The landscape of Tauranga is dominated by two key features: the harbour and the 232 metre high Mount Maunganui (Mauao) where one of New Zealand's most popular beaches is found.
Te Puke, the Kiwifruit Capital of the World is a picturesque community town located 20 km southeast of Tauranga City and has a warm temperate climate. It receives between 2,200 and 2,400 hours of sunshine per year, making it one of the sunniest places in New Zealand. Summer daytime temperatures average 22-24 degrees Celsius (70-75, Fahrenheit) and in winter 16-18 degrees Celsius (60-65, Fahrenheit).
